Web site migration to new server

Post by Saul »

Just to let you all know we will be moving the site to a new, faster server over the weekend. We had planned to do it tonight (Friday) but it will take longer than the time we had allotted for the task. The migration should now be completed by Sunday 28th Oct.

Saul, from yesterday I cannot use the Russian sections of forum with Internet Explorer 9, only with Firefox. When I open any page in Russian, appear some black (and red) stains.

Dear friends, in a quite peculiar way and with an interesting coincidental timing, while we are transitioning from the old to a much more powerful reality, while life as we know it should end in three weeks time :D , our forum and site are quickly, very quickly approaching the limits of the shared server currently hosting them.

And we are therefore compelled to move everything to a much more powerful reality, to a dedicated server that will give us a lot more space, faster responses and additional functions.

Unfortunately but also logically, all of this comes at a cost that is ten times the current one.

The fee for the current solution has always been paid for by a few dear and discreet friends and we always appreciated very much this contribution not only for its material value, but especially because of being a tangible sign of participation and support.

But now we feel that it would be nice to receive the contribution of more forum and site participants, either active (people writing messages) or passive (those just reading them) ones.

Therefore, who wants to participate with a free donation to this synchronic transition is invited to contact us in private for the instructions.

Thank you everybody! :D

PS: the programmed move to a faster server announced a month ago resulted as not feasible because no shared server solution would be able to host "our current size", a size that can only keep increasing.
